Aristocrat and Cantor sign contract

Aristocrat Technologies Inc., one of the most important technology providers of the gambling industry, recently signed a slot content licensing contract with Cantor Gaming, an affiliate of Cantor Fitzgerald. As established in the agreement, Aristocrat’s gaming content will be offered through Cantor’s mobile gaming system to wireless devices used in casinos.

“We are excited to join efforts with Cantor to deliver our proven games to casinos and their customers through this new mobile medium,” Kent Young, Global General Manager of Marketing for Aristocrat said. “Aristocrat's proven successful slot content combined with Cantor's expertise will offer a new and exciting player experience.”

Slot machines will have to pay 700 pesos per month

There was a great polemic generated by the norm sanctioned by the capital town councilor that in response to the petition of the Executive Department, set a tribute reduction of over 80 percent for slot machines. After the session of the Deliberant Board, it was decided that the machines would pay from 700 pesos a month to 90 pesos a month. The society and even the church protested against the measure taken.

Intendant Domingo Amaya decided to veto the norm, and return to the original value, going against the project his employees presented. The veto was received by the Board recently but they have made no comments about it.

Bally and Trump sign agreement

Bally Technologies, Inc. and Trump Entertainment Resorts, Inc announced that they signed a contract to wire ticket-in, ticket-out systems at three Atlantic City casinos. The change will cover more than 8,000 slot machines. Trump has selected eTICKET to improve its costumers’ experience at the Taj Mahal, Trump Marina and Trump Plaza.

“Selecting eTICKET and replacing our existing two-wire ticketing system was a natural choice for us.” Virginia McDowell, Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Trump Entertainment Resorts, explained. “Bally Power Promotions fits in very well with our planned marketing programs by giving us the ability to offer our guests downloadable promotional credits right at the game.”

First legal slot machines in Pennsylvania

On Sunday, more than 1,500 people were invited to try the provisional casino at the Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. The event set a milestone in Pennsylvania’s gambling history since it was the first time legal slot machines were tested in the state.

“The test run smoothly, people were already hitting jackpots and the computers were working well,” Doug Habach, a spokesman for the State Gaming Control Board said. Customers were satisfied too. “I thought it was excellent,” Sheila Sheftz said. “The hospitality is great,” her husband added. They were among the lucky testers that walked away with winnings.

Atronic and Konami sign agreement

Phoenix-based Atronic and Konami Gaming announced in a press release that they have signed a multi-year contract. The two companies have agreed that Atronic will develop its new product called Passion Slots, based on Konami’s software and hardware platforms.

“This agreement is the first of its kind for Konami Gaming,” Steve Sutherland, Chief Operating Officer, said. “We're delighted to be working with Atronic. It's a mutually beneficial agreement that will raise more consumer awareness and hence market share for both companies.”

Las Vegas Sands will have 16,000 slot machines in Cotai

The entertainment center will have 2,900 table games and 16,000 slot machines to be distributed along several spaces. With this, the casino will become the biggest one in the world, overthrowing the other Las Vegas Sand, Sands Macao with 740 tables and 1,310 slot machines.

With the new popularity of the gambling industry in Macao, Las Vegas Sands has made a decision to include a hotel of the Four Seasons group that will have 130 table games and 400 slot machines.

Slot machines arrive at casino

The first slot machines, including names like Mr. Cashman and Sun & Moon, arrived at Harrah’s Chester Casino and Racetrack this week. On Monday, 192 units were received and another 275 were delivered on Tuesday.

“We are at a great point being able to accept machines. It means we received all the approvals we needed at the state, county and city level. It’s a huge step and I’m anxious to see this floor come together,” Brian Dolan, director of slot products and service at Harrah’s said.

Access to slots will be banned for minors

Union por Córdoba has presented a law project that prohibits the presence of minors under 21 in recreation rooms that have slot machines. The initiative excludes those people that have turned 18 and are emancipated or have their parents’ authorization.

Counselor Martín Llarvora based the decision of promoting a project with these characteristics on the fact that, because of the municipal government’s attitude, it was decided not to take the road that other municipalities have taken that decided to just prohibit gambling.

A casino that worked without a permit was closed

Mayor Freddy Bernal went to the place that was closed by the authorities and which did not have a permit from the National Casinos Commission or from the municipality.

Bernal explained that the casino “had no license but only a registration as contributor that had expired and only authorized them to operate as a restaurant”, he said.

Slots opponents demand more information

Casino-Free Philadelphia, a Philadelphia based anti-gambling group, is calling on the Gaming Control Board to make its information more accessible to the public.

The group says the five companies that are competing for the two slots licenses are continually changing their applications.

Jethro Heiko, spokesman for the group, says they are trying to give citizens of Philadelphia and Pennsylvania the most current proposals, but this is becoming difficult because of the constant changes that companies are making to the proposals.
