The announcement of the future opening of a new casino in the state of Pennsylvania has raised the expectations of local workers to fill the job openings that this new project will offer.
The Community College of Allegheny Country (CCAC) in Pennsylvania has announced that it will offer classes to people interested in working at the Pittsburgh's future slot parlor that will be available when the Majestic Star Casino opens doors next year.
It is expected that the Majestic Star Casino will be operating late next year, but job applicants should be prepared ahead. Bob Oltmanns, spokesman of the new casino said that they would give preference to North Siders and residents of Allegheny County’s low-income neighborhoods. Majestic Star is projecting to hire about 800 people overall, including all its services.
Helen Kaiser, spokeswoman for the CCAC said “We're ready when they're ready” and “I don't think it's ever too early to learn”. She also declared that although the casino has express their preference to hire local workers, they will not do so if they are not qualified, so this is a great opportunity to learn casino-related skills. "Obviously, the more education you have, the more competitive you will be in the job market," Kaiser said.
