Revenues from the slot industry in Córdoba, Argentina are being used for the construction of 10 new houses. The buildings are supposed to be ready in approximately a month.
Profits from the slot machines’ operation have grown considerably because the operation of machines has increased significantly, according to information released by the authorities of the province of Cordoba, Argentina. This is due to the great amount of players that visit slot venues from Santa Fe and the surroundings.
Mayor Bergami came up with the idea at the beginning of this year. His initiative to invest extra income from slot machines and other gambling activities to build houses was approved unanimously by town councilors. Aside from gambling revenues, all people that joined the program of Community House-Building Fund paid 200 Argentinean pesos to be part of the plan.
Nowadays, there are 70 Cordoba inhabitants registered in the program. Houses have a surface of 45 square meters and are built with materials of great quality. Constructions will be assigned in a raffle, contemplating all registered program members that have completed their monthly payments properly.
