There was a great polemic generated by the norm sanctioned by the capital town councilor that in response to the petition of the Executive Department, set a tribute reduction of over 80 percent for slot machines. After the session of the Deliberant Board, it was decided that the machines would pay from 700 pesos a month to 90 pesos a month. The society and even the church protested against the measure taken.
Intendant Domingo Amaya decided to veto the norm, and return to the original value, going against the project his employees presented. The veto was received by the Board recently but they have made no comments about it.
Amaya said that he wanted no misinterpretations in relation to the Municipality privileging a determined sector, in this case the gambling sector.
The radical Jose Luis Avignone was the only town councilor that signed for the 700 pesos to continue to be paid; therefore, he was very happy with the final decision that proved him right.
